Part 1: individual Student instructions
Avatar
You will need to create an avatar or icon that will visually represent you on our Leaderboard. To be sure your image is broadcast correctly, you should use Google Drawing to create it.
1. Create a drawing (Go to Google drive...click the blue New button in the top left...choose 'more'...Google
Drawing) and title it Avatar.
2. Go to the File tab....Page Setup, choose Custom and in the drop in box choose pixels. Then type in 100 x 100.
3. Decorate it by using text, images, shapes, etc. Keep in mind that your image will be very small so text and detailed images will be
difficult to see.
4. When your avatar is finished you will go to File and choose 'Publish to Web'....Click Publish and Ok....
5. Copy the url provided and paste that in the form that is linked below. Please note that using the url provided by the share
option WILL NOT display properly.
Here is a video that will show you how to do steps 1 - 4.
Gamertag
Come up with a gamer tag. Write down your gamer tag! You will have to enter this tag exactly the same EVERY time you take a quiz so you will get points awarded on the Leader board. You are stuck with this gamer tag all semester (unless you pay points to change it) so be sure you are happy with it.
Leaderboard
You will fill out the Form below with your class hour, name, gamertag and the published url for your avatar. When you are done check the Leaderboard (embedded below for convenience). You should see your avatar and gamertag on there right now. If not, let your teacher know so she can help get the problem fixed right away!
PART 2: team INSTRUCTIONS
Team name
You will use the team name you created in Quest 2. Be sure to write down your group name! You will have to enter this tag exactly the same EVERY time you take a quiz or complete a project as a team so you will get points awarded on the Leaderboard. You are stuck with this group name all quarter (unless you pay points to change it) so be sure you are happy with it.
Team Logo
This is the first of many documents you will be creating with your team so you need to create a shared folder to house all of this. This way, all documents created within the shared folder will be accessible to all members of your group at all times.
1. Within Google Drive, one team member should create a folder and name it your team name (click New....folder....name it).
2. Double click the folder or click on the arrow. Choose Share option and enter the liberator mail email addresses of each of your
team members. Show me!
3. A team member also needs to double click the folder or click on the arrow to open sharing for 'anyone with the link' can view. To open the sharing options, Choose 'get Shareable link'. You will see that the default is that anyone in Bolivar Schools can view, but we want to open rights so anyone can view it. Click the arrow and choose 'More'. Choose 'Anyone with the Link'. Now all the
files created in this folder can be shared with anyone at a later date. Show me!
4. Your team mates need to go to their 'Shared With Me' folder in Google drive and they will see the folder. They should each double
click the folder and choose 'Add to My Drive'. This way the folder will be on the main drive and no one will have to search for it
each time it is needed. Show me!
5. When you open this folder and then choose to create a file, that file will automatically be created in the folder and will
automatically have the sharing rights of the folder.
6. So now, one team member should open the folder and choose to create a new drawing (New...more...drawing). Title it 'logo'.
7. Your team will work together to create a logo that will visually represent your team on our Leaderboard AND will be used on other
team assignments throughout the quarter.
8. Go to File....Page Setup, choose Custom and in the drop in box choose pixels. Then type in 100 x 100.
9. Decorate it by using text, images, shapes, etc. Keep in mind that your image will be very small so text and detailed images will be
difficult to see.
10. When your logo is finished you will go to File and choose 'Publish to Web'.....Publish....Ok.
11. One team member should copy the url provided and paste that in the form that is linked below. Please note that using the url
provided by the share option WILL NOT display properly. This team member should fill now out the form below for the team.
Here is a video that will show you how to do steps 4 - 9
12. In addition, one team member needs to download and then upload the image as an actual image file. This will be useful in the
future when you want to quickly insert your logo into documents. To do this choose 'File', Download image as...JPEG. Be sure you
are in the team folder and choose 'New'....File upload. Navigate to the download folder on your computer and click on your
group logo. Choose 'Open'. Now the image file is uploaded into your folder! Show me!
