Lab
Your really need your HW done before beginning the lab.
You will be completing the energy sources lab. Your teacher will give you a paper copy of this lab. Absent students only need to complete the disadvantages/advantages of each energy source using these articles.

1. Compare the energy sources that you observed in these laboratory activities, and consider the resources, geography, and climate of your community. Which of these energy sources are most viable in your community and why? Which energy sources would you prefer to be used, and why?
2. On April 20th, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. The disaster resulted in the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry and ignited debate on the numerous complex topics including pollution, safety, and over-reliance upon oil as an energy source. List what you perceive to be the advantages and disadvantages of using petroleum-based fuels.
3. Nuclear power is another significant source of energy. In order to generate nuclear power, radioactive enriched uranium atoms are bombarded with neutrons, splitting the uranium atoms in the process of nuclear fission. The energy released is harnessed in a nuclear reactor and used to turn turbines to generate electricity. Is nuclear power a renewable or nonrenewable source of energy? What do you think are the most significant advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power?
